The Peugeot 205 Turbo 16 made its debut at Tour de corse in 1984. Although 1984 was only its warming-up period for the WRC, the Peugeot 205 got 3 consecutive wins in the 1000 Lakes Rally and the RAC Rally. In 1985, Timor Salonen drove the 205 with his stable, yet speedy driving technique that enabled him to rack up seven wins during the season and got him an easy Manufacturers title. In 1986 and 1987, the Manufacturers title was won by Juha Kankkunen in the Peugeot 205.
